Finning UK celebrates first graduate engineers

Published: Friday, 29 October 2010   Category: Science, Engineering and IT

A group of graduate engineers are celebrating this week after becoming the first people to emerge from the Finning UK's apprentice academy.

The 30-strong team were taken on in 2007 and have since been studying for their NVQ Level 3 and Advanced Technical certificates in plant mechanics.

According to the Express and Star, the graduation ceremony took place earlier this week at the £1.5 million facility, which is located at the firm's headquarters in Cannock.

The 27 engineering apprentices and the three vehicle parts apprentices will now be given full-time roles at one of the company's 23 branches across the UK.

Finning UK is also planning to run the scheme next year, with candidates aged 16 or over encouraged to apply during the January recruitment process.

The country's largest distributor of Caterpillar machinery is operated by Finning International, which is based in the Canadian city of Vancouver, British Columbia.
