Financial services jobs 'to recover'
Monday, 16 June 2008
Graduate opportunities in the financial services sector will be more widely available next year, it has been claimed.
According to a survey carried out by the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC), almost seven in ten recruitment chief executives believe the jobs market will recover in 2009, reports Recruiter.
More than two in five of those interviewed expected resurgence in the first half of the year.
Peter Felix, AESC president, said: "The activity we are seeing in selective parts of the sector will continue through 2008 and our members are optimistic that the overall job market in financial services will rebound in early 2009."
However, The Confederation of British Industry has claimed that more than 200,000 UK workers are likely to lose their jobs by the end of 2009 as the credit crunch continues, and unemployment hits 1.89 million the highest level in a decade.
The CBI claims that jobs in the financial sector are especially vulnerable, reports the Times.
