More than one in four female IT workers are lacking in confidence where their careers are concerned, according to a recent study.
Research conducted by networking site womenintechnology.co.uk at a promotional event revealed 41 per cent of women have concerns over how they see their working lives developing, reports Onrec.com.
A further 65 per cent do not have clear professional goals in their IT careers, it was reported.
Concerns raised by respondents included how motherhood may set them back and how they had a general a lack of knowledge about how to progress professionally.
Maggie Berry, director of womenintechnology.co.uk, said the event was designed to provide women with "useful advice" on successful career strategies.
She added that the majority of women believed they were the "driver of their own success", although many experienced difficulties promoting personal achievements to management.
The website states its aim as being to help major firms to "raise their profile amongst female technologists in the UK".
