European hiring in oil and gas energy sectors will rise to 62 per cent

Graduate opportunities will be opening in the oil and gas energy sectors, according to a new report.

The Global Oil and Gas Workforce Survey, conducted by Oil Careers and Air Energi, revealed that recruitment in the industries across Europe will rise by 62 per cent this year.

Mark Guest, the managing director of Oil Careers, said that 2010 has been a year of growth for the sectors, despite the economic downturn.

"The global oil and gas industry garnered a lot of experience and understanding throughout 2010 and with the number of hires increasing by over 60 per cent in core regions such as the Middle East, Europe and Americas," he said.

"That the talent pool is positioned correctly is a vital component in the stabilisation of the industry going forwards."

Currently, 2.5 million people are employed in the oil and gas energy sector across the world, together producing 88.5 million barrels of oil per day.
