Employment qualification to be launched

Published: Thursday, 20 March 2008   Category: Life after graduation

A new employment qualification is to be launched across all job sectors which will strive to make staff more effective in their chosen place of work.

The Level 2 Certificate in Employability Skills is being developed by assessment specialist Education Development International (EDI), and aims to assist both current employees and those about to enter into the jobs market.

Available from April 2008, it will enable learners to fully understand the skills required for entry into employment, while helping to develop skills which will allow them to work to their fullest potential.

Commenting on the issue, Nigel Snook, chief executive of EDI, said: "All employers are looking for individuals that can demonstrate the kind of personal and soft skills needed to succeed in the work place.

"This qualification will not only help candidates prove that they are committed to achieving their full potential within their role but enable them to develop skills that will be useful throughout their entire career."
