Graduates looking for jobs have been handed a boost by the news that the employment market is slowly recovering to the extent that permanent staff placements increased for the sixth month running in January.
Research found in the Report on Jobs from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG showed that demand for staff grew at the strongest rate since summer 2007 while jobs for temporary staff also increased.
The report was conducted using data from 400 recruitment and employment consultancies and according to Kevin Green, chief executive of the REC, is evidence that the jobs market is on "the long road to recovery".
Bernard Brown, partner and head of business services at KPMG, said: "The UK jobs market is continuing its journey back to health.
"Placements of permanent and temporary jobs have been rising again in January although at a slower pace than a month before - a reminder that the road to recovery will be bumpy."
