Employers scramble for places at graduate job fair
Wednesday, 21 October 2009
Graduate employers have oversubscribed a jobs fair in Reading, suggesting that companies are keen to get fresh talent into work.
The recession saw many firms, such as BT, cancel their graduate job schemes, but the Autumn Careers and Placement Fair at the University of Reading will see all 70 employer stands filled up.
Employers such as the Met Office, NHS, BMW, Lidl, IBM, Sainsbury's, Mars and the Civil Service Fast Stream will be present at the fair, offering graduate jobs to the university's alumni, according to Get Wokingham.
Carey Widdows, director of the careers advisory service at the University of Reading, told the news provider: "The excellent employer attendance at the autumn careers fair, despite the recession, demonstrates the attractiveness of our graduates in the job market."
Graduate job hunters will be able to attend the event at the Palmer Building on the Whiteknights campus from 11:00 to 15:00 GMT on Wednesday October 28th.
