Employers need to offer 'generous benefits' to attract top talent

Published: Thursday, 12 May 2011   Category: All Graduate job news

Employers need to offer attractive rewards packages that go above and beyond simple annual pay to people looking for graduate vacancies in order to lure the top talent, according to Lorica.

Matt Duffy, partnerships manager at the consultancy firm, said increasing job availability meant attracting the right people was no longer "just about how much the basic salary is".

"[Employers] need to communicate their benefits more effectively, so if they already have a generous benefits package then they need to communicate the total reward when they are making an offer to a candidate," he stated.

"It's not just about how much the basic salary is - it is shouting about all those other great things that they do."

According to the latest Monster Employment Index, online job recruitment activity remained positive in April, with a 14 per cent year-on-year increase compared to the previous year.
