Employers get tips for effective graduate recruitment
Thursday, 21 May 2009
Companies looking to offer graduate jobs to those leaving university this summer have been given expert advice from the director of the careers centre at the University of East Anglia.
Anne Benson, who is also the chair of local graduate recruitment fair organiser GradEast, told employers that there is an excess of degree-level talent looking for work at the moment and companies must take advantage of this.
Employers should also review their current graduate recruitment methods, plan campaigns to attract candidates and ensure that a quick vetting process is in place to eliminate unsuitable applicants early on, according to Ms Benson.
The GradEast Online Recruitment fair, which takes place from June 8th-19th, has also been recommended as a good way for employers in the East Anglia region to reach out to graduate job hunters while also saving money.
Employers were recently encouraged by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills to be ambitious when offering higher-skilled graduate jobs.
