Workers in the UK are having little time for festive cheer over the holidays as a large number of them have been working or are expecting to work in the period between 25th December and 1st January, according to a report.
The survey, by the Post Office Travel Services shows that 40 per cent of people will have worked over the Christmas period, with 25 per cent of those doing so because they have too much work to take time off.
Post Office head of travel services, Helen Warburton said: "We were surprised to discover that so many people will be at work during the festive period. Particularly when we have seen healthy sales of foreign currency over recent weeks which suggests more people are heading abroad."
She added that the fact so many people are not using up their holiday entitlement is also "worrying to learn".
A recent report by Clydesdale Bank showed that roughly one in ten businessmen and women miss Christmas Day owing to work.
