'Embrace change' when looking for graduate vacancies

Published: Wednesday, 04 May 2011   Category: All Graduate job news

University-leavers looking for graduate vacancies may have to "embrace the changing shape of UK work" along with the rest of the country in employment, if they are to find top jobs.

Denise Keating, chief executive of the Employers’ Forum on Age (EFA), has said that people will have to notice how the recruitment market is changing and edit their job-hunting accordingly, reports People Management.

Among other changes that Ms Keating predicted were a rise in the numbers of small businesses being set up and an increase in the amount of people engaging in flexible working.

The chief executive said that young people looking for graduate vacancies should not be disheartened if they do not find their ideal job straight away.

"It’s not an easy situation when you’ve got 600,000 18-24 year olds out of work, but work is not finite. There is more work to be had," she said.
