Science, Engineering and IT
Recent university leavers living in east London and looking for graduate jobs in science, engineering and IT may be interested to hear that the minister of state for higher education David Lammy has announced the launch of a graduate recruitment scheme.
Know as the 'Fastlaners' scheme, the initiative is funded by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills and the Young Foundation to help graduates to help each other in navigating the notoriously challenging degree-level job market.
The course will offer training on everything including voice training to team working and workplace etiquette as a means of raising confidence and increasing their knowledge of the labour market.
Mr Lammy said: "I believe funding Fastlaners will make a real difference and ensure graduates from one of the poorest areas of London get an extra leg-up after leaving university.
"Particularly in these more challenging times, Fastlaners provides real help for new graduates to learn the types of skills which are so vital for the workplace."
