A new initiative to get those looking for graduate IT jobs greater industry skills through professional placements has been unveiled by e-Skills.
Several firms including IBM, Google, British Airways and GlaxoSmithKline have signed up to the scheme, which will link them with graduates from Sheffield Hallam, University College London, the University of Kent and the University of Plymouth.
According to Computing.co.uk, employers are looking for graduate job candidates to display better business, interpersonal and communication skills, which the internships will aim to provide.
e-Skills said in a statement: "The internship scheme offers students an agreed national standard which is valued by employers and recognised by universities - making those students more attractive to future employers."
Those hoping to go onto graduate IT jobs in Northern Ireland with degrees in other fields were recently given a helping hand by the University of Ulster through a £500,000 scheme.
