New research has shown that 75 per cent of digital media companies intend to increase their salaries in a bid to attract more suitably qualified staff.
The survey, conducted by Chinwag Jobs, shows that nearly 100 per cent of companies are having difficulty recruiting suitable staff due to a skill shortage in the sector, reports Recruiter.
Some 57 per cent of the companies involved felt the digital skills shortage has had a negative effect on their business growth in 2007, with a further 85 per cent feeling that it would continue to do so in the coming year.
Commenting on the necessity for companies to offer incentive, Sam Michael, Chinwag's managing director, said: "Employers must work harder to attract and retain quality staff, without resorting to the temptation of unsustainable wage levels."
Elsewhere, a survey undertaken on behalf of the Learning and Skills Council has shown that 54 per cent of people would rather improve their existing job than apply for a new one, according to Recruiter.
