Demand for graduate roles greater as companies see applications rise

Published: Monday, 07 February 2011   Category: All Graduate job news

The number of applications for graduate roles at top recruiters rose last year compared to the previous twelve months, new research has revealed.

Over half of companies who lead the field when it comes to graduate employment told High Fliers Research that the number of applications for its jobs aimed at university-leavers went up.

Four-fifths of the leading one hundred graduate recruiters say the number of applications of the graduate roles has risen or remained at the same levels as last year.

Only one per cent of the top one hundred companies - which includes companies such as Deutsche Bank, Aldi and Google - told the researchers that they received "many fewer graduate applications".

However, many of the companies who received fewer graduate applications said that the quality of the submissions improved.

This information was revealed in High Fliers Research's report The Graduate Market in 2011. The companies which took part in the survey make up the Times' list of top one hundred graduate employers.
