Coventry Airport investment could create 10,000 jobs

Published: Tuesday, 26 April 2011   Category: Science, Engineering and IT

Recently revealed plans for investment in an airport located in Coventry could lead to around 10,000 new jobs.

The Insider Media Limited website has revealed that the jobs will be created after plans to invest £250 million in the redevelopment of Coventry Airport.

Some of the new jobs - which it is expected will mainly be in construction - may go to university leavers currently looking for graduate vacancies.

Sir Peter Rigby, who owns the airport, pledged the investment today (April 26th) and said the money would go towards two development projects.

"Since we bought Coventry Airport, our management has been very much community focused and - as always - we are looking to work with the community we serve and bring jobs to the area," he said.

"Our plans to improve the airport's infrastructure and facilities will benefit the entire West Midlands."

Sir Peter also revealed that he wants to re-establish passenger flights from the airport, which stopped in December 2008.
