Clear financial benefits' for people who can work from home

Published: Wednesday, 18 April 2012   Category: Graduate jobs

University-leavers looking for graduate opportunities may like to find a job which offers the possibility of working from home.

That is because there are "clear financial benefits" for people partaking in home-working, according to the Telework Association.

Peter Thomson, director of research at the organisation, said that employees tended to be "significantly more productive" when they are at home instead of in a noisy office.

He added: "A lot of businesses now are running almost 24/7 extended hours for their customers, so you need your employees to be more flexible and able to get the service to customers at a time the customer wants to be served, not just at a convenient time for the employee to happen to be working."

Philip Hammond, the transport secretary, announced this week that the government would be working with businesses to allow more flexible working during the 2012 London Olympics, to reduce congestion during this busy time.
