CIPD releases graduate internship guide for marketing employers
Wednesday, 16 December 2009
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) has boosted graduates' job prospects by advising employers on how to improve internships.
The Internships That Work guidance has been produced with the aim of helping youth unemployment among the under-24s and to make sure both employers and graduates get the most out of their experience.
Monetary remuneration, internships recruitment, induction process practices, effective supervision and the structure of short and long-term work experience placements are also addressed in the report.
Tom Richmond, skills adviser at the CIPD, said: "With the efforts being made to encourage organisations to offer internships for young people, we are keen to ensure that all new interns enjoy high-quality programmes regardless of who they work for or where they live."
Clive Jones, chairman of GMTV and Skillset recently announced the launch of a new code of practice to stop employers in the media sector taking advantage of graduate job hunters on internships, Broadcast Now reported.
