Charity jobs sector continues to grow
Friday, 15 June 2007
New research has shown that the charity jobs market in England remains buoyant as the sector continues to be a strong draw for many graduates.
Figures released by Reed's market index research found that there are currently around 600 charity jobs on offer in England, though positions in the sector in both Scotland and Wales were found to be significantly more limited, reports the Recruiter magazine.
The study also found that the average salary for a charity job now stands at around £25,000, yet that figure lifts to around £29,000 for community support positions and £32,000 for more senior management positions.
Kate Russell, manager of charities division at Eden Brown, told the magazine: "The sector is busy throughout the year. It is a candidate-driven market.
"The most sought after candidates are those with fundraising experience … direct marketing donor development candidates are also in demand.
Ms Russell also added that many companies are now prepared to offer greater benefits packages in order to claim the best candidates in what is an increasingly competitive market.
"This sector also offers employees excellent benefits on top, like extra holiday, in a bid to attract candidates."
