Centrica announced 'Best Work Placement Provider'
Monday, 09 March 2009
A company which provides work experience for undergraduates and graduate jobs has won the award for Best Work Placement Provider 2009 at the annual National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) Awards.
Centrica, the multinational utility company, beat off competition from all sectors, including BP and Barclays Capital, to win the award at the ceremony held at Merchant Taylor's Hall in London last Thursday.
Yvonne Crew, senior graduate recruitment manager at Centrica, commented: "We are thrilled to have won and been recognised for our commitment to providing quality experiences for our students. We hope that it will support us in our mission to attract and recruit some of the best young talent around."
Broadcaster Laurie Taylor gave a speech at the event, emphasising the importance of work experience to those looking for graduate jobs at the moment, repeating advice that the NCWE gave to undergraduates and graduates late last month.
Centrica currently employs 54 graduates a year within its information systems, engineering, finance and general management factions, all of which are highly competitive.
