Life after graduation
New research has indicated that businesses are seeing the benefit of using social networks, which may be of interest to today's internet-savvy graduates.
A recent study by Nielsen Online shows that social network site are still highly popular among internet users in the UK, which makes them potentially useful as a business tool used for professional networking, according to WorkLight, the Enterprise 2.0 Company.
However, the group has noted that there could be "major security ramifications" for companies that use such sites without implementing sufficient safeguards.
David Lavenda, WorkLight's vice-president of marketing and product strategy, noted that some 63 per cent of online adults used one of the most popular networking sites in January, making them a potential "business platform".
"We're seeing more and more companies opening up to the use of social networks, as long as enterprise-grade security is guaranteed, as is the case with our WorkBook offering," he said.
