A boom in budget retailers could open up new opportunities for those looking for graduate jobs, according to one expert.
Speaking to Recruiter magazine, Peter Burgess, an expert in the retail sector, explained that an increased interest in stores such as Poundland and Matalan mean there are more career opportunities.
He said: "These stores require a whole new set of skills and their managers are generally very well respected in the industry."
The boom will allow people to follow a distinct career path if they so choose, Mr Burgess added.
According to the publication, Poundland has seen a 122 per cent increase in its profits in the last year, pushing them up to £8 million.
The chain will also be opening ten new stores before Christmas, meaning it will operate more than 200 nationwide.
Recently, Tesco stated it will still be offering graduate jobs despite some firms cutting back on recruitment.
According to the firm, it is "committed to hiring quality people".
