Bath graduate launches successful coffee shop app

Published: Tuesday, 26 January 2016   Category: All Graduate Jobs News

If you’re a coffee lover, then you’re in for a treat – a graduate from Bath University has come up with a clever new way to order a drink. In fact, the innovative app allows you to get your coffee fix before you've even set foot inside one of Bath’s independent coffee houses.

The new app has been aptly named 'Ordable' and is available to all smartphone users. Coffee lovers simply order from their phone before entering the cafe to pick it up.

Co-founder of the free app Ordable, Tom Dewhurst, has described his new venture as a growing business. Having graduated from the University of Bath last year, gaining a degree in business administration, he certainly has the skills to make the venture a success.

Tom, 23, is not only a coffee lover, he’s an entrepreneur. He explained that the app allows someone to order a drink from thewir work desk or from their home, and they then pay when they pick it up.

“You can set the time and customise what you want from the cafe's menu,” he said. “It's easy to use and works for lunch too, which is great for team orders.”

The app was developed during the last year and currently has nine clients in Bath, all of whom have provided positive feedback. He explained that the Bath coffee scene provides plenty of opportunities for people to try out different shops and that the app contains a map to show where they are.

Some of the coffee shops who have already signed up to this app include The Bath Coffee Company, The Forum café, Jika Jika, The Old Station, Engine Shed and the Bath Coffee House.

Asides from this project, Tom also has another venture on the cards called the Best Barista Brew, which runs in conjunction with the app. In the very near future, more and more cafes could soon join forces with the Ordable Group as members visit different cafes around the city each week.

The graduate is keen to expand his project and believes there are plenty of opportunities to do so.

If you’re considering your future after leaving university and want to know your options, Grad Plus has a wide range of graduate schemes and internships that may be ideal for you.
