Sales and recruitment
Those struggling to find a graduate job in the current climate may be glad to know that cosmetics company Avon has pledged to help university leavers with a recruitment scheme.
It is thought that graduates stuck for a graduate job elsewhere could sign up for the £15 starter pack, which will give them everything they need to become a self-employed Avon representative, according to the Daily Mail.
Anna Segatti, head of Avon's UK enterprise, told the newspaper: "There is a huge opportunity to promote direct selling to graduates and indeed other people during the economic downturn."
Georgie Cockroft is one university leaver who has already signed up - she says that taking the initiative to become self-employed will help her become more attractive to employers in the current competitive graduate job market.
Thomas Usher, research fellow at the Institute for Employment Studies, recently told graduates that they will have to keep looking for opportunities to gain experience before landing their perfect job.
