Average advertised UK salary tops £31k
Thursday, 25 October 2007
The average salary for a job advertised in the UK is now more than £30,000, according to a new survey.
Research undertaken by AllTheTopBananas.com indicated that the average UK salary is now £31,290 per annum, though the figure varies greatly from region to region.
While graduates looking for careers in London will hope to eventually benefit from an average salary of over £37,000, job hunters in the East Midlands can expect to earn an average of just £24,940.
In a statement, AllTheTopBananas.com managing director, Dave Martin, said: "As a nation we are incredibly secretive about our salaries, yet love to see how much we earn compared to other people."
Research undertaken earlier in 2007 by uSwitch revealed that over the past decade graduate salaries had increased by 51 per cent, from £15,000 in 1997 to more than £23,000 in 2007.
However, the survey also indicated that over the same time graduate debt had increased by 167 per cent.
