Average advertised salary increases again

News Article Published: Friday, 21 December 2007   Category: Money

The average salary advertised in the UK has reached £31,969 in December, according to a new report.

The research, by allthetopbananas.com shows that the average wage of advertised jobs has risen by £679 from last month.

David Martin, managing director of the site, said: "The salary index has shown there is a definite trend of average advertised salaries increasing across much of the UK. If, as some people predict, confidence in the UK economy cools in the few months of 2008, it will be interesting to see how that affects advertised salaries."

He added that while the index can not take into account variables that affect wages it is still "a fascinating way for anyone to compare their salary to the advertised average in their area".

Companies in London pay their employees the best, according to the research. The average salary in London is £39,137.
