Friday, 29 May 2009
Those looking for graduate retail jobs may be interested to know that Wal-Mart-owned supermarket chain Asda is increasing its recruitment in Scotland.
The company will invest £260 million over the next three years to provide 3,500 jobs in the country, through the opening of stores in Glenrothes, Inverness, Dundee, Larkhall and East Kilbride.
The company said it provided 700 jobs in 2008 and the funding for between 2009 and 2012 is equivalent to that invested in new employment in the last five years.
Chief operating officer Andy Clarke said: "We are pleased to be able to create employment opportunities in the retail sector during these difficult economic times as well as supporting hundreds of construction jobs across the country."
A scheme for a 32,300 sq ft Sainsbury's store in Swadlincote recently received the go-ahead from City Council members, which is though the be able to create up to 150 positions for those looking for retail jobs, such as graduates, if plans are finalised.
