Ardent Search and Selection has created a financial services division for credit, risk and compliance, a move that could create jobs for skilled graduates in the sector.
Speaking to Recruiter magazine, Ardent chief executive David Colgrave commented that new recuits would be needed as current market conditions "lead to more legislation and regulation".
He added: "Many of the businesses we work with have requirements for skilled candidates in compliance and risk assessment.
"We feel this is a real growth area and are confident that this new division will help cater for the anticipated increase in demand in this sector."
Former Royal Bank of Scotland employee Peter Brown will take charge of the new division, the news provider reports.
Earlier this month, the Daily Telegraph reported that many City workers were considering new careers in other sectors to escape the impacts of the credit crunch.
