'Almost all' of top graduate employers to offer graduate work experience

Published: Tuesday, 01 February 2011   Category: Work Experience

More than nine-tenths of leading graduate employers are to run a graduate work experience programme in 2010-11, according to a report.

Many programmes are sandwich courses which are taken between years of university study and usually last "between six and twelve months".

The information, revealed by High Fliers Research's Graduate Market in 2011 report, comes as it was disclosed that around half of all graduate roles go to an applicant who had undertaken graduate work experience at their chosen company.

In all, only six per cent of the top 100 graduate employers in the United Kingdom are not set to offer graduate work experience.

Investment banking is the sector with the highest graduate work experience to graduate vacancies ratio.

This business sector recruits 121 people in work experience positions for every 100 it hires in graduate roles.

The report - the latest instalment of an annual study by the researchers - also revealed that 10,665 graduate work experience positions will be available in the coming year.
