Aldi looks for graduates in south-east
Monday, 24 August 2009
Graduate jobs are still available to university leavers looking for employment in the retail sector thanks to one firm in the south-east.
The supermarket chain is still offering 90 to 120 graduate jobs at its stores across the UK, wanting to recreate the success of one university leaver in Maidenhead who has recently been appointed the manager of four outlets.
Karen Walker, a 25-year-old graduate of Birmingham University, took the £40,000 salary and company car and was given the opportunity to grow her skills almost immediately, according to the Maidenhead Advertiser.
She told the newspaper: "From day one I was thrown in at the deep end and handed the keys for a store. It's tough, but I thrive on a challenge."
Supermarket chain Sainsbury's, which normally provides 65 graduate jobs every year, recently announced that it will be offering 85 such roles in 2010, an increase of 30 per cent, Personnel Today reported.
