AGR: 'Apply for graduate jobs now'
Wednesday, 25 November 2009
The Association for Graduate Recruiters (AGR) has claimed that now is the best time for university students to ready their applications if they want to get on employment schemes.
Carl Gilleard, chief executive of the body, said that many major organisations have got their deadlines coming up and graduate job hunters will have to keep their eye on any impending dates.
He said that those who have already graduated are not exempt from taking advantage of any campus visits firms are currently making, contrary to popular belief.
"One of the things that we found out from talking to graduates was that a bit of a myth had arisen, where they thought 'If I missed the boat whilst I was still at university, I am not eligible for graduate programmes' - nothing could be further from the truth," he explained.
The AGR recently told Personnel Today that former students with HR degrees will have a wide range of talents that can be applied to other professions if graduate jobs in the sector are not available.
