Role Description

NB Communication based in Lerwick, Shetland, is recruiting for a recent graduate for a 12 month Website Project Management and Commercialisation role.  The successful graduate will be involved in improvement of web development processes, processes and quality control documentation and similar. 

The graduate will undertake real work in the fields of website development, website maintenance, project management, quality assurance and more. They will be required to perform a wide range of tasks and activities, with an overarching goal of identifying how to improve how things are currently being done.  Tasks will also include:

  • Analysis and improvement of their in-house project management system
  • Analysis, research and planning with regard to turning bespoke software into a package capable of being sold to multiple new customers

As part of the TalentScotland Graduate Placement Programme in the Highlands and Islands, the candidate will benefit from support from a team within Highlands and Islands Enterprise and also access training focussed on employability and business skills, including a five day residential course.

This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • A degree in IT, preferably with high web-related content.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of website design, digital marketing and similar.
  • Knowledge about website accessibility, usability, conversion rate optimisation, search engine marketing and other related online topics.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Ability to multi-task, be flexible and “muck in” as required by a small business.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Strong IT skills, especially in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high quality standards for completion of work.
  • Ability to see the ‘big picture’ and remain aware of overall goals.
  • Ability to learn new skills as required through self-guided learning (typically online).
  • Passionate about doing excellent work and about helping customers succeed.
  • Self-motivated / driven

Desirable:

  • Ability to use graphic design software packages.
  • Experience in a web design / digital marketing agency environment.
  • Experience of undertaking marketing, sales, account management and project management work
