Job summary

Matrix Uniforms have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Web Developer to take responsibility for  optimising and creating their new website in order to provide a smooth shopping experience and overall impact on the bottom line. The successful candidate will also work closely with our creative team to ensure digital, website and social media content reflects a consistent corporate message. This is a 12 month placement, with potential for a longer term role, based in Glasgow.

We are a uniform manufacturer and supplier with an established reputation in the market for excellence in both our product and service.

In 2012, we have established an ambitious growth plan based around E-Commerce, export trade and online marketing/promotion. Aiming to establish ourselves as the leading supplier of corporate uniforms in the United Kingdom and gain a worldwide market share over the coming years.

Role Description

We currently have a full website redevelopment underway through an external web development company, so you will be able to contribute to the final stages of this and move on to be the sole manager of development and implementation of this exciting new project.

You will have a good deal of independence and creativity in this project, as well as working with cutting edge technology on an extensive and exciting Conversion Rate Optimization campaign – using measurable science and marketing to increase revenue through the website.

Primarily you will be in charge of technical development – creating web pages, landing pages, email newsletters and various other online productions. You will work closely with our marketing specialists, and use your technical expertise to create these items in a manner consistent with our brand guidelines and marketing strategies. Whilst primarily a development role, your opinions will be taken on-board and knowledge of marketing is beneficial, but not essential.

Key tasks:

  • Develop and implement improved content on the website by working closely with the marketing team
  • Maintain a website with a high conversion rate by working with other members of the team and our conversion software
  • Develop email newsletter layouts to reflect the subject matter generated by the marketing team
  • Manage and update all Matrix Uniforms information databases to ensure compatibility with our various platforms and 3rd party systems (Ebay, Amazon, Vevo, Tradebox, and Sage)
  • Investigate new opportunities for using new media (video, audio, photo, downloads etc) to generate renewed interest from registered users and their propensity to purchase online
  • Review monthly reports on website performance provided by our SEO company and work closely with them to make improvements
  • General website maintenance and product upload.


Skills / Experience

The successful candidate will possess the following skills:


  • Excellent working knowledge of HTML, Java-script and style-sheets
  • Ability to work to a brief but also to show initiative in generating new ideas
  • Ability to work on various projects simultaneously, under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and knowledge of databases.


  • Experience of working with Content Management Systems (training will be given on ours)
  • Experience of image manipulation
  • Experience of web analytic tools e.g. Google Analytics
  • Knowledge and/or experience of web development using Microsoft .NET technologies (or other server side technologies)
  • Preferably some knowledge of Flash, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop although it is not a necessity.



  • Relevant degree qualified.



  • Full training will be given, depending on candidate's skills, on CMS, manipulation and Google Analytics
  • Exposure to new technology and units
  • Becoming a key part of a small, effective, creative team.
