Job summary

Unique Cottages has a fantastic opportunity for a graduate to be at the centre of the major Online Marketing project being undertaken. The graduate will work on online content driven work to help the company move into a new IT system and develop more effective onsite marketing. This is a 12 month placement based in the Borders.

The Graduate who successfully gains this placement at Unique Cottages will become an integral part of the company’s major Online Marketing project, transferring, collecting and creating data in a variety of formats and inputting them with a high degree of accuracy into the new system. The role requires an individual who is able to assess the information as it is gathered and transferred to ensure it is optimised for SEO, visual impact and in a way which promotes increased sales.

By the end of what is initially a year placement, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will have supported the company in the move to the new system, and begun to work alongside other members of staff to produce new, informative and attractive content for the site, ensuring that all data added remains consistent in its format and of high quality. It will also be part of their longer term role to contribute to the production of marketing materials and to support with the on-going development of the company’s marketing strategy and plan.

It is hoped that the successful candidate will demonstrate, during the period of their placement, their ability to fulfil their role, fit in well with the team, be flexible as is necessary in a small company showing a willingness to ‘muck in’ when necessary and the ability to work using their own initiative when required.

The success of the candidate will be measured on a number of areas related to the initial transfer of product information & imagery, including levels of consistency, ability to work to allocated timescales, adherence to the company style in relation to look and feel of new content added to the website as well as general measures such as time keeping, attendance and record keeping.

Role Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks and activities:

  • Transferring information from the old system to the new system, including resizing images, re-writing text descriptions and inputting precise technical data (prices etc.).
  • Writing content for the new site in a style that is in fitting with the company’s brand identity and which increases product sales.
  • Sourcing and manipulating imagery for marketing purposes.
  • Contributing to the design and content of printed media such as brochures, leaflets and posters.
  • To input up-dated product details and develop new content as properties join the agency portfolio in a manner which ensures consistency and a high degree of attention to detail & appearance.
  • To keep informed in relation to developments in technology and internet trends which may potentially feed into the Marketing Strategy to ensure that the company remain ahead of its competitors.

Skills / Experience

Essential

  • Good knowledge of commonly used IT Software (office),
  • Good knowledge of Copywriting and SEO
  • Knowledge or experience of using Photoshop, digital publishing software such as InDesign
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/XTML and CSS
  • Ability to plan work and work effectively within deadlines
  • Ability to analyse problems skilfully, including anticipating potential problems and solutions, adapting well to changes in workload, priorities and deadlines if necessary.
  • Ability to make sound judgements based on facts and logic.
  • Ability to adhere to company processes and procedures.
  • Shows a high level of personal responsibility, taking ownership of allocated tasks and showing a commitment to doing the best job possible.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as using their own initiative.

Ideal:

  • Ability to show innovative thinking and to contribute new, fresh and well thought-out ideas to the business as a whole.
  • The company would very much welcome a candidate who has a natural creative flair and a confidence to develop their own ideas and contribute to the on-going development of the company.

Qualifications

Degree in either Digital/Online Marketing or another subject relating to applied information technology with a Marketing slant.
