Critical is one of the
UK's leading independent specialist market research companies, offering sound experience in business, financial, and specialist consumer markets.

We specialise in Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) and web survey techniques. The Critical Group comprises three separate companies based in the South East. Whilst each company has its own specialist skills, all centres are networked and provide a telephone interviewing resource.

We have particular expertise in the financial, telecomms and print media sectors. We work for a variety of clients in both the public and private sectors, as well as working in partnership with other research agencies. Recent clients include Yell Plc, Tiscali, Grant Thornton, Royal & SunAlliance, Axa Sun Life Direct, GE Commercial Finance, the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP), RSPB, Motability and the East Midlands Development Agency. Our work is predominately in the B2B market and is mainly quantitative in nature.


What Are We Looking For?

We are seeking an ambitious Trainee Research Executive to work in a fast paced, hands-on, yet friendly and informal environment.  The ideal candidate will have a good honours degree (2:1 or above in a relevant subject), 3 ‘A’ Levels grade A-C, and a GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English at grade B or above.


The Skills You Need

·         Strong organisational skills

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         The ability to prioritise

·         Keen eye for detail

·         The ability to interpret numerical information

·         Knowledge of statistical methods and techniques would be an
     advantage.

·         Good working knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel
     and Powerpoint

We use our own bespoke software so a quick learner with good IT skills is required to adapt and fulfil this role's potential.


Job Description

The successful candidates will be expected to manage ad-hoc projects from initial proposal through questionnaire design, data handling and final report/ presentation as well as managing interviewers and clients.

This role provides excellent opportunity for career progression - a large amount of responsibility is available at an early stage. Whilst the majority of training will be conducted in-house, all Trainee Research Executives would be required to study for the MRS Advanced Certificate and attend external MRS training courses as appropriate.

Talented, hard working executives will be rewarded with performance related bonuses in addition to the basic salary, with private healthcare and pension contributions available in the future.

The successful applicant will be expected to travel between the different offices and, particularly during training, may need to spend extended periods of time at the other offices.
