Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) are recruiting for a graduate to work in the Financial Management Team.

This will involve:

  • Provide support to the Payroll & Pensions Manager, assisting with the processing of monthly payroll changes and carrying out various payroll reconciliations.
  • Work towards the preparation of monthly management accounts within agreed timescales, ensuring that data is accurately reported and that reports reconcile to financial ledgers.
  • Receive training in the preparation of weekly financial summary report so that it is prepared within agreed timescales.
  • Work with other team members to coordinate the production of the general administration performance report, helping ensure that all relevant issues are reported.
  • Work with project teams or project officers who manage projects with significant spend to ensure that clarity is gained on issues relating to financial commitment and spend forecasts.
  • Assist with monitoring each business unit’s financial performance against budget and highlight issues as they emerge to senior management.
  • Work proactively with individual business unit finance contacts, providing support and advice as necessary.

Skills/Experience

Essential:
• understanding of basic accountancy
• degree in relevant discipline
• excellent writing skills including report writing skills
• very good interpersonal skills
• highly organised, motivated and flexible
• excellent ICT skills in excel and word

 

Desirable:
• knowledge/experience in an accounting environment
• experience in payroll
• Gaelic language skills (speaking, reading or writing)

Qualifications

Degree or postgraduate degree in accounting or other relevant disciplines.
