Acair Ltd. based in Stornoway on the Island of Lewis is recruiting for a Trainee International Marketing Manager. This post will provide a great opportunity for a self starter to join the team and gain experience in first hand customer contact and make a direct contribution to the company.

Job Description

Acair Ltd. is the leading Scottish publisher of children’s books in Gaelic as well as publishing a wide range of general interest titles in both Gaelic and English. We are recruiting for a recent graduate for a 12 month Trainee International Marketing Manager role.  To achieve their business objectives the Marketing Strategy identifies a number of areas where Acair need to bring in new resources and expertise – particularly in 4 key areas:

•        Technical expertise to set up new systems and maximise website presence and analytics;

•        Staff marketing resource to take forward the actions which will not have a big impact on financial budget, but require staff time to progress

•        Improving data capture to enable better customer information; market assessment and impact of marketing strategy to be reviewed on an annual basis.

•        Develop an export marketing plan to raise awareness of the products available and generate sales.

Skills / Experience


•        Knowledge of social media and online marketing approaches

•        Ability to develop a tactical online and e - marketing strategy

•        Ability to design management information systems to monitor interaction and impact of marketing activities

•        Fluency in spoken and written Gaelic

•        Good Copywriting skills

•        Ability to promote better search engine optimisation

•        Use of a range of online tools e.g. survey monkey, mail chimp, Google analytics

•        Experience in tailoring web based resources to improve communications and interaction with customers

•        Active user of social networks

•        Writing press releases and advertising features

•        Ability to work well using own initiative

•        Excellent organisational skills

•        Good communication skills


•        Web design and editing skills.

•        Microsoft office

•        Report writing

•        Use of online marketing e.g. Google Ads

•        Knowledge of the Scottish Publishing industry
