Moore Stephens LLP is currently looking to recruit graduate Trainee Chartered Accountant to join our Public Sector Group, ideally to start on 01 November 2012 (with the opportunity to join sooner if available)
The Public Sector Audit Group provides audit and consultancy services to public sector bodies within the UK, the EU and worldwide. This role focuses on UK bodies and works closely with the National Audit Office.
The purpose of the role is to work with senior staff to provide a high quality service to clients in respect of the preparation and audit of statutory accounts and on occasions, other ad hoc assignments.
You will also work towards gaining the ACA qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
The main responsibilities of the role will include (but not be limited to):
Understand and perform basic audit tests
Prepare a simple trial balance and identify errors in basic accounting
Assist in the call and cast of accounts
Perform bank reconciliations and audit bank sections
Prepare lead schedules and audit transaction balances
Code a trial balance and post it to the firm’s systems, reconciling the client’s profit figure
Prepare legible and comprehensive working papers
The role initially works under close supervision of senior staff. As you progress, you will be responsible for completing more complex areas of the audit file. You will also begin to direct and review the work of junior staff.
The role will involve spending a high proportion of time working at client sites throughout London and the UK. Many assignments require you to obtain security clearance.
To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:
Achievement of at least 300 UCAS points, calculated from three A-level subjects taken in the same year and excluding General Studies (or international equivalent)
Achievement of at least a 2.1 university undergraduate degree classification in any subject
Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
Sound commercial awareness
An interest in a career in audit and obtaining the ACA qualification
