Trainee Buyer

Our client is among the UK's leading providers of building services, mechanical, electrical, ICT, off-site manufacture, interiors, systems integration and maintenance solutions. We employ 3,100 people and have a turnover in the region of £500m, through our UK-based operations.


They currently have exciting opportunities for two graduate calibre candidates, to join our busy Procurement departments in Leeds and Sheffield. Working within the team, you will successfully work towards achieving company, team and individual goals and objectives relating to the implementation of new and developed procurement systems and procedures.


Other duties will vary from preparing and issuing purchase orders, reviewing purchase order claims and contracts for conformity to company policy, to data analysis and producing accurate reports. All of these will be carried out, whilst working within “best practice”, and adhering to the company’s core values of Passion, Integrity and Excellence.


The role will involve some intensive training but this will be rewarded with excellent career development opportunities. The successful candidates may be required to study for the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) qualification for which full support and funding will be provided.

It is essential that you can demonstrate excellent communication skills whilst maintaining the highest levels of commercial confidentiality in all aspects of this  role. You will need to show the ability to manage and monitor your workload, ensuring you are always providing the best service to customers and colleagues.


Ideally, you will be educated to degree level (or equivalent). Preference will be given to applicants with a 2:1 or above from Supply Chain / Procurement, Accountancy and Finance or Business Studies related subjects or those that have Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply membership. Previous procurement experience within a building services environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
