Trainee Air Traffic Controllers
If you’re the kind of person who likes to be in control, you should talk to NATS. Right now, we’re looking for self-assured graduates who can think logically to join our Trainee Air Traffic Controller scheme. You don’t need any aviation experience. So if you have the right skills, this could be the ideal way to launch – or re-launch – your career. What’s more, after qualifying, you’ll be well on your way to earning up to £85k.
So what exactly will you do as an Air Traffic Controller (ATCO)? Well, essentially, you’ll be responsible for controlling aircraft in UK airspace. So you’ll need to balance issues of safety – which are our primary concern – with other aspects, such as ensuring planes arrive and depart on time. That’s why we look for people with maturity, dedication and common sense. People who have the wherewithal to make the most of our comprehensive training and carve out a successful and rewarding future for themselves.
Our ATCOs come from all kinds of backgrounds. We have people who, like you, have joined us straight from university or who have worked in office-based roles, customer service, retail – anywhere, in fact – so as you can see it’s not so much where you come from that matters. It’s your skills and competencies that really count. These are many and varied but include being able to make decisions quickly, think several steps ahead and in 3D, and, above all, to multitask.
Many people don’t even realise they have the precise skills we’re looking for. That’s why we’ve devised some games for you to play on our website so you can check out whether you have the necessary skills and attributes for the role.
