EXPIRY NOTICE: This job has now expired and will not be accepting any more applications.

The Role

Our two-year programme will give you exposure to a cross-section of Centrica Energy assets and operations and begin your journey to gaining chartered engineering status.

During the programme you’ll have four six-month placements. These will cover the core areas of Centrica’s energy production business including time in a power station, working with Hydrocarbon Resources Ltd (the upstream gas production business with offshore facilities in Morecambe Bay) and in the commercially focused head offices at Windsor or Uxbridge.

You will be supported and mentored throughout your studies in order to assist you towards attaining chartered engineering status. Your placements will be spread across the UK to allow for the exposure to both the upstream energy production sites of hydrocarbon processing and electricity generation and the commercial perspective from head office.

Person requirements:

Our assessment process is designed to identify candidates who can demonstrate strengths in the following competencies:

Understanding of complex business and commercial issues
Ability to quickly gain new skills and knowledge
Adaptability in a changing environment
Planning and problem solving skills
Exceptional customer service
Experience of effective delegation, collaborative working and people management skills

You must also have a 2:2 in a  related discipline.

The Application Process:

We use online application forms and not CV based recruitment due to the nature of our competency based assessment process. There is an opportunity to record your work experience and extra-curricular activities within the application form. In addition, there is space to provide evidence that you possess the skills we are looking for, not something you would necessarily include in a CV.

All submitted applications are read in full, so if you invest the time in completing an application, we promise to spend the time reading it.

Applications accepted until the end of July 2007 - keep in mind that places on the scheme are already being offered and we would encourage you to submit your application as early as possible

Apply online - we'll respond via email within four days

You can book your own assessment centre timings directly online, to suit your schedule

We'll notify you about the results of your assessment centre within 24 hours
