In Langley we develop High Definition Multipoint Conferencing Units (MCUs) for bridging multiple video calls into one conference. The TANDBERG Codian 4500 is unarguably the most powerful video conferencing bridge available in the world.


In Reading the team develops the TANDBERG Video Communication Server (VCS). This translates between different video call protocols, allowing the current generation of video phones to communicate to the latest products. It also provides a centralised address book to organise video calling and provides firewall traversal to extend these functions across the public Internet.

Test Development Engineers, TANDBERG Telecom UK Limited 

An automated test infrastructure is at the heart of the software development process in Reading.  This allows the evolving products to be continuously monitored and assists the team in meeting demanding quality and time targets. Test results are collectively monitored and issues promptly passed back to the relevant software engineer to address.   

As a Development Test Engineer your task is to find ways to stress the product that the developers may not have considered.  Then verify the quality of the software and undertake interoperability testing with other manufacturers’ products.  Approximately 50% of a Tester’s time is spent identifying repetitive tests and designing/developing enhancements to automate these areas. This is one of the most satisfying parts of the role. With an ethos of ‘automate everything’ only about 20% of the role is still centred on manual test.


The graduates we seek

UK educated candidates should achieve a 2:1 or 1st class honours degree in Computer Science, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Science or Maths, from one of the UK’s top universities. This must be supported by a minimum of AAB at A Level.  You will also need to be passionate about technology and possess proven programming skills, gained either during you degree or as a hobbyist interest. 

Duties and responsibilities

·         Work with the product development team to ensure that the product is designed with testing in mind.

·         Design, develop and code up improvements to the automation infrastructure, incorporating third party products.

·         Liaise with test development groups in the Oslo offices, sharing ideas and expertise.

·         Monitor test runs and notify product development of any failures. 

Any experience of software test and languages such as Python, PHP, Perl would be an advantage.

Salary/progress review – graduates will have two reviews in the first year; one at six months, one at twelve months.  Experienced recruits will be reviewed twelve months after commencement of employment.  Going forward all applicants are reviewed on the anniversary of their starting date.
