Turck Banner Limited is a joint venture company, the principal shareholders being Hans Turck GmbH & Co. KG of Germany and Banner Engineering Corp. of the USA. Hans Turck is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of inductive and capacitive sensors as well as components and systems for automation control. Banner is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of opto-electric sensors, ultrasonic sensors and machine safety products. Banner and Hans Turck have very complementary product lines and are recognised as industry leaders in sensors and related automation products with worldwide representative networks.
Turck Banner Limited is responsible for the sales, marketing, distribution and technical support of Hans Turck and Banner products in the United Kingdom and Eire. Sales operations include direct sales to end users and OEM’s within a very broad range of industries and applications, the largest sectors of which are automotive machine building, material handling, packaging, process control and machine safety. Sales responsibilities also include managing a diverse distribution network ranging from small focused sensor specialist distributors to national wholesale distribution houses.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
In support of the companies’ objective to increase sales revenue and market share in all industries, the company has decided to appoint an applications engineer, responsible for offering effective technical support to both internal and external customers.
The position will be held at the Turck Banner offices in Wickford (Essex)
The primary responsibilities are currently as shown below, but may change in line with the overall development and growth of the company.
1. Advising customers by telephone/email/fax on the correct selection and usage of Turck, Banner and Escha products.
2. Maintain and expand a defined customer base via Turck Banner promotions and advertising campaigns.
3. Producing standard quotations and detailed project proposals on any of the company’s products or services.
4. Specialisation in at least one product area.
The company operates a Personal Development Review (PDR) system as an integral part of its personnel function. In the PDR process, personal objectives will be agreed between each member of staff and their line manager and these will be formally reviewed at agreed intervals.
Prime measurements of the UK Business Development Manager will be: -
- Accurate and concise support on all products.
- Competent use of IT system.
- Involvement in the complete sales cycle with Turck Banner customers.
- Meeting of all targeted response times.
- Ensuring that customer records, both manual and computer based are secure, accurate and up to date.
PERSONAL PROFILE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate should possess and be educated to a HND, BSc or Eng qualification or equivalent and have a sound knowledge of all customer support functions. They must also offer direct experience or demonstrate the capability of satisfying all the key areas of responsibility noted previously.
Demonstrable experience in a similar related position / work experience with a proven record of business success
The position will require a person with excellent oral and written communication skills. In addition, wide experience of all aspects of current business technologies is essential.
This role will appeal to a person who enjoys a ‘hands on’ approach, working under pressure to meet deadlines without compromising medium and long term plans and who has the ambition and ability to grow with the company.
Good interpersonal skills will be needed with the ability to work with and command the respect of other staff that possess a wide range of technical, commercial and managerial disciplines. In addition, they should be diplomatic whereby compromise is achieved without affecting their overall performance and development.
