Job Summary

Visual Management Systems Ltd is a fast-growing company specialising in IP CCTV software. We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical International Sales Support Engineer to join our company on an initial 12 month placement with view to permanent hire, based in Glasgow. The successful candidate will join a well established engineering team incorporating software developers, IP network specialists, sales and design consultants and computer literate CCTV engineers working both in the UK and abroad.

Job Description

VMS Ltd is a company specialising in IP CCTV software established in 1996 based in Glasgow. We have a well established engineering team incorporating software developers, IP network specialists, sales and design consultants and computer literate CCTV engineers working both in the UK and abroad.

We are looking to recruit a Technical International Sales Support Engineer with the right credentials and qualifications to add to our support team. The successful candidate must be outgoing, with the ability to work on one’s own initiative in a foreign country. We are looking for someone who is able to communicate effectively whilst supporting our overseas sales partners, with particular focus on the Middle East and Africa. Experience of CCTV and/or IP controlled systems would be a distinct advantage and further bespoke training will be available.

You will provide support to VMS clients, including hardware, software, network and training issues.

Day to day tasks will include:

  • Installing, maintaining and supporting company bespoke software
  • Analysing and resolving faults, both software and network
  • Providing technical support for clients
  • Sales support for strategic partners.

 

Skills/Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge and/or experience of Windows, XP and Windows 7
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Networking
  • Comfortable setting up LANs, WANs, programming switches and router
  • Ability to use own initiative and work alone whilst in a foreign country
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  •  

Ideal

  • Qualified to COMPTIA A+ NET+ or equivalent
  • Some knowledge of CCTV and/or IP controlled systems would be a distinct advantage and further bespoke training will be available
  • We have several sites throughout the UK and are expanding into Europe and the Middle East. Therefore, a willingness to travel (particularly to the Middle East and Africa), a current full driver’s licence (or a strong desire to learn), along with a valid passport would be highly beneficial.

Minimum HNC/HND, or Undergraduate Degree level in Electronic/IT disciplines.
