Who are we?

You may not have heard of us before, but if you open your kitchen cupboards we are sure you will see some of the fantastic products we make on behalf of Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons, M&S and many more.

We are also proud of our flagship brands of Ginsters of Cornwall and Dickinson & Morris, the only remaining manufacturer of the famous Melton Mowbray Pork Pie left in the town itself.

Samworth Brothers are one of the largest food manufacturing and distribution companies in the UK, employing over 6,500 people. We were established as a family run business over a century ago and despite our phenomenal growth we maintain our family values today. We recognise that success depends upon constant respect for people, quality and profit, and consider our most important asset to be our people.

We are committed to growing our own talent within the business and have run a successful industrial placement scheme for several years.

What’s on offer?

Our industrial placement scheme is split into two six month placements to give you excellent exposure to the business and also give you the opportunity to do a real job and work on real projects.

The key focus will be around delivering in our production and technical functions, but may include commercial projects as well liaising with our customers and suppliers.

Who are we looking for?

We recognise that you may have limited work experience so we are looking for your potential.

The role of the technical function with the Samworth Brothers businesses drives innovation and quality at all of our sites.

Previous Industrial placement students have had real responsibility and exposure to challenges and new developments as they happen within the business. This is a great learning opportunity to understand more about food production, the commercial underpinning of the decisions and relationships with our customers, and to learn about yourself.

We are open to all degree disciplines but particularly welcome applicants from Food Science, Food Technology and Science degree backgrounds.

If you demonstrate the key skills we require of leadership, teamwork, communication, planning and organising and problem solving we can provide the infrastructure to develop your career within the food industry and gain excellent work experience.
