You will have a major impact on the business of the company, the reduction of costs in the NHS and in pioneering an innovative new product. Medical devices are a growing design and manufacturing sector and the experience gained will have a positive impact on the associate’s long term career prospects.

You will gain technical and managerial competencies which include:

  • Use of industry standard Solid Modelling software including analysis techniques, rapid prototyping.
  • Coordination of multiple streams of expertise (mechanical and electronic design plus infection control) into the design of a single family of products
  • Understanding of the commercial impact of design
  • Managing a project to commercially imposed timescales and budgets; and delivering outputs on schedule
  • Communication and negotiation skills internally at all levels and externally with clients and clinicians
  • Understanding the relationship between cost of design and manufacture against customer requirements, industry directives and commercial drivers

You should have a minimum 2:1 in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Design Engineering.

As a KTP Associate on this project you will have a generous personal development budget of £4000 in addition to a KTP Management Training Programme and the opportunity to complete a Masters in Research at Aston.

 You will be employed by Aston University and will work at Partners for Endoscopy in Stoke on Trent
