Our client is one of the world’s leading industrial companies. With 68,000 employees in more than 80 countries, they are the largest global coatings manufacturer and a market leader in decorative paints and performance coatings. They are also a major worldwide supplier of specialty chemicals.

They currently have an opportunity available for a Support Chemist to join the team in their Protective Coatings EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) Laboratory based at Felling.

Within the role you will be required to develop new coating products for the EMEA Protective Coatings business and you will be involved in the short term testing of the current product range to assist the EMEA Protective Coatings   business.  You will be required to test coatings products to worldwide and regional standards and explore speculative materials and chemistries for future coatings development.

Applicants for this role should hold a first degree in Chemistry or a very closely related subject, with demonstrable experience within a similar role although fresh graduates will also be considered.  You must be able to live and work in the Newcastle / Gateshead area and have the flexibility to travel overseas as required by the demands of the role.  A self-motivated nature and an enthusiastic attitude to your work are also essential attributes.

These activities are integral to the continuing success of the EMEA Protective Coatings business. The successful candidate will be in the ideal position to see their career grow alongside the success of these projects.

The EMEA Protective Coatings laboratory aims to develop its staff so that they can fulfil their potential either within the technical team (in the UK or overseas) or in other parts of the businesses.
