Project Desription
There are two project objectives: firstly to gain familiarity with open source mapping and geospatial tools and their integration with .NET development environments for web-based mapping and secondly to provide input into the design of a mobile application using .NET and XAML for Windows Phone 7 / Windows 8 in the area of augmented reality. The details of the specific objectives and achievements are defined by the outputs and outcomes below.
Outcome and outputs will be in the form of two complimentary solutions:
Firstly a migration of a classic web-based mapping solution to a new .NET based solution using modern FOSS geospatial mapping with associated APIs. This real-world example will be customer driven and success will be in internal design review and customer system and acceptance testing.
Secondly, for our Windows projects, the understanding and capabilities to integrate sensors and camera information into a sample app with reusable code compliant with our architectural guidelines will form the success criteria.
The graduate will work closely with the Technical Architect and Director as developer for a range of projects.
Role Description
As a front-end application engineer, you will be focussed on both coding new developments within the open source mapping platforms currently utilised and the Windows Phone / Windows 8 applications the company creates (examples of typical apps are listed on the company website, focussing on sensor integration with camera and orientation)
You will also be supporting existing applications across the web and Windows Phone based on services, SQL data and geospatial technology platforms
Thus, you will gain familiarity with open source mapping and geospatial tools and their integration with .NET development environments for web-based mapping. You will also provide input into the design of a mobile application using .NET and XAML for Windows Phone 7 / Windows 8 in the area of augmented reality.
