Higgs & Sons is a long-established legal practice, trading for over 135 years and delivers a wide range of legal services to clients of all sizes- individuals, SMEs and PLCs. They are one of the largest law firms in the West Midlands, with 16 equity partners and 160 staff, and positioned in the top 200 nationally. They are the Birmingham Law Society Law Firm of the Year 2011.

 

Higgs & Sons has joined forces with Aston University on this KTP project to review the internal and client facing processes in order to better meet the needs of customers as legal services sector changes through deregulation and increasing demands from clients. This will transform Higgs & Sons from a modern but traditional firm into one which excels in customer service and offers clearly understandable products and services, maintaining its status as a sector leading organisation.

 

As a KTP Associate on this project, working as part of a team you will be responsible for developing and implementing revised business and communications processes. You will be closely involved in the review and redesign of current processes, evaluating customer experiences and needs, developing service life cycles and fully reviewing all operational and financial aspects. You will develop an understanding of the operational, commercial and applications aspects of Higgs & Sons’ products and services and the impications of change in a professional services environment.

 

You should have a good first degree, preferably in Business and/or Management, or Finance, possibly with a specialisation in Operations Management, and ideally with practical experience in a service business environment. Experience of business process development or change projects would be helpful.

 

You should have strong client facing skills and the ability to interact at all levels within professional service organisations and industry. Warmth with respect are essential qualities for this role.

 

You should be confident, self-motivated and capable of working effectively on your own initiative and as a member of a small team. You should have a high degree of flexibility, especially in managing tight deadlines, changing priorities and taking initiatives and in introducing change to professional colleagues.
