Job summary

Provista has a great opportunity for a Junior Trainee Engineer to work in a Network Operations Centre to support Cisco IP Data & Voice Networks. Full training will be provided to allow you to progress a career within IP Networking, gain industry experience and accreditations. This is a 12 month placement, based in Hamilton, with a view to a permanent role thereafter.

Job Description

Provista has a requirement for a Junior Trainee Engineer primarily to work in the Network Operations Centre (NOC) and complete any other duties as required. You will work with the IT support desk, receiving phone calls from clients, resolving clients issues and logging work.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are looking to progress in a career as a fully qualified network engineer as full training will be provided. The successful candidate will have a great desire to build a career in networking (Cisco) and IP networking and you will ideally have some commercial experience of networking i.e.: Cisco switches and routers, IP Voice & Security.

You must be able to demonstrate an interest in IP networking and show what you have been doing to build a career in this field, for instance demonstrating great attention to detail, a friendly telephone manner, excellent communication skills and knowledge or skills in LAN applications, TCP/IP, DHCP, Voice & Data Applications and Microsoft Applications.

The role is full time with 37.5 hours per week and you will be based in our Hamilton Office where you will be expected to cover rotating early and late shift patterns. Package will include opportunities for overtime and full benefits package.

Skills / Experience

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

Essential

-          A strong interest in IP networking and show what you have been doing to build a career in this field

-          Knowledge and/or skills in LAN applications, TCP/IP, DHCP, Voice & Data Applications,

-          Strong attention to detail

-          A friendly telephone manner, with clear spoken English

-          Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written

-          Ability to work in a team

-          A flexible approach to work

Advantageous

-          Previous experience working in an IT support environment

-          Knowledge and/or experience in Microsoft Applications

Qualifications

Essential:

-          IT degree

Advantageous:

-          Cisco CCENT or CCNA certification would be considered a distinct advantage.

 Benefits

The Salary is £14,000 - £18,000 per annum depending on experience. Overtime will be paid for extra work over 37.5 per week. The position includes a benefits package including Pension and Life Assurance with company contributions. Training and career development will be paid by the company.
